yapi, not sure if that is meant to be the Statue of liberty connotation because I don't know how that would fit into this story but....
Ed Zwick speaking about the diamond industry's campaign to combact the negative publicity brought about by the movie's release. also has a good link to learn more about what the Kimberly Process is all about

Ed Zwick talks about "Diamond" dust-up
Award-winning writer/director/producer Ed Zwick took a break from putting the finishing touches on his controversial new film, “Blood Diamond,” to show some clips at the AFI Film Festival last night.
There was a discussion about the love story in “Diamond” and the AFI alum's other films such as "Shakespeare in Love," "The Last Samuri," "Legends of the Fall," what drew him to the conflict diamond story and working with his dream team of activist/actors Leo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou.
There were also questions about the young actors portraying child soldiers forced to commit murder and atrocities, an ongoing problem in civil wars in Africa and around the world.
When asked by an LA Daily News columnist about the diamond industry’s paranoid attempts to deflect criticism, Zwick admitted that the industry was spending much more money to fight negative publicity anticipated from the film than the studio was spending to promote his movie.
“We have done no publicity for the film yet and are only just starting to put out TV ads,” Zwick explained. “There is a new adage in issue management that tells people to get out ahead with your version of the story and I know that the diamond industry has employed J Walter Thompson and is spending more money on their PR than we are spending on the film. When someone is that defensive, It may occur to some that they have reason to be.”
The reporter pressed, “Do you believe the diamond industry's claims that the Kimberley Process has cleaned up the blood diamond problem and we can all relax and buy diamonds for Christmas?”
“This is a complex conversation,” Zwick admitted. “It's very interesting to see how in their (the diamond industry) conversations, they're now talking about how the Kimberley Process needs to be strengthened. That's very important and that they are now singing that song can only help the situation."
Explaining the Kimberley Process to the audience, Zwick continued, “The Kimberley Process is a joint attempt by the industry and governments to follow the path of a diamond from the source to the point of retail sale in order to insure that it’s not a conflict zone stone. But this week the Kimberley Process is having its three year review and what comes out of that review will determine its strength and its future."

BD Poster the new poster is good (i don't want to be dumb in asking the question but the shadow on their faces is like the spiked crown of the statue of liberty, right ?)
http://media.movies.ign.com/media/734/734214/img_4040043.html
I think the spikes look like a shadow of the tips of a very large palm frond.
Anyway...I LOVE the poster!!!
Mine's on its way & I can't wait to hang it beside my TD poster. 8)
lena...
Thanks for the Zwick article.
Oh, BTW...Coincidentally (or cosmically!) NAS ("Thief's Theme" in TD)
is scoring the soundtrack for BD.
Rapper NAS is rushing to complete his first soundtrack score after being approached to create music for LEONARDO DiCAPRIO's new movie, BLOOD DIAMONDS.
The rap star is working against the clock to complete the project before the film's release next month (DEC06).
He says, "It's right up my alley and they felt I'd be perfect to talk about it."http://www.pr-inside.com/nas-to-score-blood-diamonds-r24923.htm
redford circa All The Presidents Men  but without the sideburns and about 10-12 years younger looking - on second thought I don't think they look much alike except they both have dirty blonde hair and blue eyes - they also give off totally different auras  . Saw my first TV ad for BD on MTV during the weekend. Very short, different from the trailer. Thanks for the new photos, yapi.

Maybe it's because of my crappy english but I didn't mean that dicaprio looks alike young redford. Just that the haircut and all (the looks...ok i don't know how to say this), it's remind me redford.
yapi, thanks for the review. That site had one of the early reviews of TD too if memory serves me correct. well, the review is mixed but it seems like its positive towards the perfs but the major problem seems to be Zwick being Zwick.
