Blood Diamond Sneak Peaks 12/02 I joined the Phoenix Film Society back in September after you guys on this board alerted me that PFS was hosting a pre-screening of The Departed. I could not attend that pre-screening because I was on vacation. But I hoped that they would have a pre-screening for Blood Diamond.
I e-mail PFS over a week ago to see if they would be hosting a screening. I just got a reply back saying that Blood Diamond will have sneak peaks all over the country this Saturday, December 2nd.
I checked it out and there is one theater here in my area that is playing the movie. So hopefully, you can find a theater near you that will also be showing a sneak peak of Blood Diamond.

Was thrilled to discover through your alert and that of a fellow WC poster that there is INDEED a showing of "BD" in my area on Sat 12/2
Already bought tickets for hubby and me...can't wait :) :)
Hope you and others are able to attend an advanced showing as well !

I had the opportunity to see Blood Diamond last night and all I can say is "WOW!" I LOVED IT. Part of the enjoyment for me was due to not knowing anything about this movie beforehand. I did not even look at the 13 clips of the movie that were posted all over the internet. So I was completely surprised and blown away.
Leo and Djimon are phenomenal, and both should be awarded nominations for these stellar performances.
BD makes The Departed look like a Disney picture in terms of the violence and brutality.
I can't wait to go see it again.
FYI, Leo's mom and grandmother are in the film.

Like Az Sun ..I was fortunate to be able to see 'sneak peek' last night
Film was excellent as was the acting of both DiCaprio and Hounsou
Also very much liked the chemistry between DiCaprio and Connelly
As Az Sun stated the film ..due to its subject matter...does have scenes of brutal violence...
But ...like "TD"...there are also moments of levity sprinkled throughout the film
Look forward to seeing it again on Dec 8th :)

Glad you got to see it Az and Pea... Do you feel like Leo should be nomd for BD instead of TD? Not that it's fair that it should have to come down to one or the other, but what's your opinions? And do you think BD will get an Oscar nom?

Artreborn,
I would LOVE to see Leo get nominated for both movies. He is equally stellar in both roles. But if he can only get one nomination for Best Actor, I would have to choose his performance in BD.
I hope that BD is nominated for some Oscars. I have not seen all the movies out this year, but I did see Little Miss Sunshine and The Queen, and maybe I am bias, but I prefer BD to them.
I am really not into action packed movies, and even though BD is an ACTION packed movie, there is a great balance between action, story line, and character development.
My husband prefered BD over TD just a little, but only because he enjoys movies about real people or real events more. He always watches Biography and the History Channel. I have not made a decision to which movie I liked best. I just have to go see BD a few more times in order to make a decision.
