Celebrities see The Departed
Keanu Reeves... http://johnnyhongkong.com/blog/2006/10/07/an-infernal-movie-date

StormyTeacup- 10-09-2006

Thanks Lena   There are times I feel sorry for movie stars, when all their actions are judged and commented on. However, in this case Keanu gets no sympathy from me :P :P

http://johnnyhongkong.com/blog/2006/10/07/an-infernal-movie-date  Not sure if I believe this tale...but it did make me laugh. Afterall, who hasn't been in a crowded theater with Miss 'loud mouth bitch' Pac Man either behind or in front of you.

Spies in this Defamer report spot the following celebs at screenings of The Departed: http://www.defamer.com/hollywood/sightings/...206646.php Lindsay Lohan, Steven Soderbergh and Jules Asner From mcall.com, Soderbergh's verdict: I love ''The Departed.'' I only saw four films this year. But that one was incredible. Another director adds his two thumbs: Richard Linklater (director of ''Fast Food Nation''): ''The Departed.'' I had to see it twice to really appreciate it. The second time, it really blew me away with how brilliant it was. I cared about the characters the second time around. Scorsese is such a master.

Arnzilla Thanks for assorted comments from others about the "TD"...certainly AGREE with their comments :)

Add George Takei to the list of Departees. http://torontosun.com/Entertainment/Television/2007/02/02/3506377-sun.html On another subject, Takei -- who has a vote for the Academy Awards -- was asked yesterday what he thinks of the Clint Eastwood movie Letters From Iwo Jima, which tells the story from the Japanese point of view. As a boy during World War II, Takei spent four years in an internment camp for Japanese-Americans. "I have seen (Letters From Iwo Jima) and I was deeply moved by it," Takei said. "I was amazed such a sensitive and humanistic movie could be directed by a person (Eastwood) who didn't speak or understand Japanese. But I guess he understands the human soul." Should Takei's praise be taken as an indication of his vote for best picture? "I'm keeping it secret," Takei said. "But I think it essentially is between (Martin Scorsese's) The Departed and Letters From Iwo Jima."

In the current Newsweek (only the print edition) in an article about TV vs. movies, Ricky Gervais calls The Departed the best film he has seen in the past five years.

Courtney- 02-24-2007

speaking of Gervais, his new DVD has a special featurette which features Leonardo in the storyline (though he doesn't actually make an appearance but its pretty funny). Another celebrity, from the sports world on The Departed http://www.nba.com/sonics/news/oscars070224.html

The real celebrities (watch till the end for The Departed mention) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXRmcHZX5c0

Courtney- 03-15-2007

Not really a comment on The Departed but a comment on Nicholson and Leonardo by Angela Lansbury ...."Here I can continue to do what I do best. What I know is acting. I'll always have the desire to act. And my biggest outlet is watching others act. Onstage more than in films. Movies today are like fast food. Today's names won't become legendary and lead into the next generation. Jack Nicholson is more part of the old crowd, and he'll stay. As will Leonardo DiCaprio, who's like a Brando." http://www.nypost.com/.../one_lady_whos_not_invisible_cindy_cindy_adams.htm

Arnz and Courtney Thanks for all the assorted "TD" mentions and clips :) Love hearing others talk about how much they liked "TD" !

Law & Order's exec producer, Dick Wolf, saw the film 8 times. With literally thousands of cop dramas under his belt, you'd think there'd be nothing in another cop movie that would engage him this way. Anthony Anderson's performance in The Departed also made Wolf cast him as a regular on this year's L&O.

Tonight's L&O has a Departed homage. AA's character says he transferred from "the rat squad," ie, internal affairs.
