Cinematographer talks Leo, Marty and Oscar
Greek Cinematographer Yiorgos Arvanitis (Total Eclipse, Nyfes). From his interview in Greek Mag "DVD REVIEW". JULY 05 Q: Scorsese is an Executive Producer in Nyfes. Just how much did he actually involved in this project. A: He involved in about everything really. Script, storyboards, locations, casting... But the thing is that he was working on THE AVIATOR at the time. So, his partner and our producer Barbara De Fina did the hardest work. Q: And u worked with DiCaprio too. A: Yeah. In TOTAL ECLIPSE. Ten years ago. Q: How was your experience. Did u expect to become such a huge star? A: He was just a kid back then. And in Hollywood u can`t be sure about anything. The thing with DiCaprio i think, is that, he`s fearless. And he`s a sweet kid. I remember bringing his mom on the set. We had a blast. Q: Do u think that Scorsese`s name will increase film`s Oscar chances? A: (Laughs) I don`t know. I don`t think so. U know, Scorsese himself hasn`t been very lucky about that. At the end of the day what`s more important is the film itself. And i believe that we have a good film. Have a nice evening.

:) Thanks for the Scorsese interview, Nas! The quote Shynney chose struck me too. “At the end of the day what`s more important is the film itself.” Perfect description of Scorsese and his work. And that’s a great reason to keep all the Scorsese Oscar talk in perspective.
