Scorsese mention - Home Movie Day - August 13 Today is Home Movie Day.
I really liked this article.
Maybe some of you will too.
Anyway...
Here's the Scorsese mention:
Even Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese has entered the fray, taking a shot, on the homemovieday.com web page, at the small-minded who turn their noses up at footage shot by Uncle Fred or Grandma Jessie. “Saving our film heritage should not be limited only to commercially produced films,” writes the man who almost entered the priesthood but at the last minute opted out to make movies such as Mean Streets, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. “Home movies do not just capture the important private moments of our families' lives, but they are historical and cultural documents as well.”

virgo - thanks for the link! I had no idea about "home movie day" I share Marty Scorsese's views on the importance of preserving home movies.
I've had some 16mm transferred to VHS and now to DVD because it's footage of me and my family when I was about three and life was good!

8) How cool, Margot!
Bet it's so much fun to look at yourself enjoying life as a 3 year old!
And I'm sure life is good now too...just different.
Just think, as a 3 year old you couldn't appreciate Leo!
Hey virgo
Very interesting article.
No surprise that Scorsese would support old home movies being restored.
It goes along with his passion for film restoration and strong family ties.
Thanks virgo.
And Happy Home Movie Day to all!
