Arnzilla, thank you for the reviews. I think Wells is trying to redeem himself for what he did last year. It is not working... About the theatrical release, here is a new update from Variety: Inside Move: 'Home' bound for DVD Dylan pic gets second chance in theaters Audiences may have another chance to see Martin Scorsese's 3½-hour docu "No Direction Home: Bob Dylan" on the bigscreen. Focusing on the singer-songwriter's life and music from 1961-66, doc was released on DVD. Pic briefly screened for free via Emerging Pictures in 30 cities nation-wide. At its Gotham preempreem on Monday, however, Paramount Pictures chairman-CEO Brad Grey said the studio "should take a look at (releasing the film) theatrically, which I don't think was ever contemplated." Viacom co-prexy and co-chief operating officer Tom Freston also saw a potential life for "Home" in theaters. "We are trying to figure out now can we clear it theatrically and get in some theaters because I do believe some people are going to want to see it on the bigscreen in a communal way." http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117929403?categoryid=13&cs=1 I might be able to see it at the local film festival tomorrow or Saturday :) Anyone saw it yet??

DYLAN !
will, Arnz...thanks for all the Scorsese/Dylan docu stuff. I enjoyed reading it all. And Bravo to Wells at last! 8) Scorsese absolutely knows his music! I’m sure he chose to do a docu about Dylan because he is, without a doubt, one of our modern day poets. Dylan’s music will last lifetimes and I’m really looking forward to No Direction Home. Courtney, thanks for the Don't Look Back reminder. Next to Scorsese’s The Last Waltz it’s one of the best music documentaries. Pennebaker also did documentaries on Bowie and Hendrix.8)

More reviews
Two more reviews. I liked this part from Pittsburgh Post Gazette. With subjects like Henry Hill ("GoodFellas"), Jake La Motta ("Raging Bull"), Howard Hughes ("The Aviator") and even Jesus ("The Last Temptation of Christ"), Scorsese has obsessed over the trajectory of man's rise and fall. He fits Dylan into that formula by having the so-called "voice of a generation" establish himself as something he doesn't really want to be. If you want to read the whole thing...here's the link: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05263/574411.stm And...this one..."a love letter from one American artist to another". That's cool. http://film.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/Guardian/0,4029,1574578,00.html?gusrc=rss

Skydog, I haven't seen The Last Waltz but I really should since I read so much favorable comments about it. I'm not a fan of Dylan's newest stuff but some of his earlier songs are amazing; I own quite a few of his earlier stuff on CDs.

DYLAN !
virgo, thanks for the two great articles about Scorsese's Dylan documentary. They say many of the things I feel strongly about when it comes to Bob Dylan. I especially like the first article and this Dylan comment.... Bobby, granting Marty rare access and rare candor, grimly tells the camera, "I never felt like I had a past, and I couldn't relate to anything other than what I was doing at the present time. Didn't matter to me what I said. ... Still doesn't really. Courtney...you must see The Last Waltz!!! It's an amazing docu about The Band and their last concert. Scorsese looks so young in it and he has so many great really conversational interviews with the members of The Band. Of course, the music is Phenomenal! He and Robbie Robertson are still friends and Robertson has worked on a couple projects with Marty. If you catch it, let me know what you think. (I love all Dylan's stuff!) 8)

Skydog
Thanks for the additional info about The Last Waltz. Speaking of documentaries, has any been made on Martin Scorsese? I think he would make a really interesting subject - I just read a few things about him when he was younger...as I said, pretty "interesting" things he went through. Also, hasn't he been married about 4-5 times?
