See Shine A Light? Discuss it here. I'm sorry I didn't make the local premiere cos of the flu'. Hoping to see the movie next week at the IMAX.
Anyone here seen it yet? Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

I unfortunately didn't see it in IMAX but still can't imagine anyone not having a good time, whether they're Stones fans or not. A major difference between the two versions is that the screen has the same aspect ratio in the prologue as it does during the concert for the version I saw. From what I've heard in the IMAX version, the screen expands like at the beginning of Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore.
One word to sum up the film: E-N-E-R-G-Y. How do those fans keep their hands raised for two hours? I don't get the people who complain about the film showing the Stones' age. First off, that's the point: their longevity. But they only show their age in their faces, not in their performance. My first instinct wasn't to say "WOW, look how old they are now" but instead "WOW, look how young they were then."
One more thing: who knew "satisfaction" only had one "S?"
Make that 2 more things: gotta love the hand sweat prints on Watts' T-shirt near the end.
Make that 3 more things: Hooray for whip pans! :)
Make that 4 more things: I wish Scorsese had identified people like Reidy & Richardson.
Make that 5 more things: censoring the "motherfucking" in "Buddy Motherfucking Guy" was motherfucking lame.

It was hugely enjoyable everyone I went with LOVED it! I may even go back for a second dose if I can.
I'm glad you warned me about the prologue I might have felt cheated otherwise.
When the screen expanded though there was a real WOW from the audience. Mick and Keef in Kong and Godzilla proportions was dizzying and the images seemed to swirl in and out of focus as the cameras wizzed by.

I think they are so familliar that you can't be surprised by how old they look. They've looked that way for years. There is something of the pantomime about them though especially Keith with his ribbons, bows and eyliner. I suppose that makes Jagger principal boy.
I wish Scorsese had identified people like Reidy & Richardson.

Was that Richardson I kept seeing, tracking across the front of the stage whenever we saw the band's-eye view of the audience?

i saw it in IMAX and it was fucking fantastic. i've seen quite a bit on the stones and this (not just due to my loyalty to marty, either) was way more upbeat and exciting. ace cinematography. took my girlfriend who knows maybe five songs and she loved it.
anyone else have a hard time not clapping between songs? never had that experience at a concert film before.

anyone else have a hard time not clapping between songs? never had that experience at a concert film before.Scorsese never cuts away immediately after a song ends, so I would say he encourages it. But I couldn't tell the difference between the clapping in my theater or the clapping at the Beacon.
