As about "after hours" film, I would screen
"Eyes Without a Face" (1959 (?), George Franju directing)... for its fantastic and comorbid psychological themes about "appearance"...
Well, that film is more about plastic surgery, and appearance, but it's treated like a film noir by Franju (Thriller built script) and he evokes not only the physical transformation but also what lays behind, the psychologial transformation...and globally the complexity of personalities (doctors & patients are facing). which is, or can be, related to our theme in SI in my mind.
It's also """funny""" to notice how "MEDICINE and its powerfull praticians" were seen in 1959s cinema... like they (physicians) were all powerful like Gods... (Another belief)
