Lobotomist
I actually saw the PBS show about the doctor who started the lobotomy trend. The description of the procedure was pretty gruesome. A man who had the surgery as a child was interviewed. At the end of the show the narrator noted that lobotomies are still performed today for severe cases of OCD (which Howard Hughes suffered from, among other things).

Peanut, it says it's a Bar Cocktail Cabinet. Maybe for Cawley's house? Don't they have drinks during the meeting with Naehring? dreamer, were you called to be an extra after all?

Peanut80- 03-06-2008

Will Thanks ...like you I thought I remembered a scene where Cawley and Naehring were having drinks :) Dreamer Yes..I sure hope "SI" is the title as "Ashecliffe" reminds me too much of Heathcliff and "Wurthering Heights" .

Not sure if this is the right topic but this seems to be the bouncing one. Does anyone have the script for SHUTTER ISLAND/ASHECLIFFE and mind sharing it with me? email to foolboy2006@hotmail.com please. Thanks a bunch and great to see a new board to follow after the wicked Departed one.

Added in NEWS section of his official site - perhaps working title means Ashecliffe won't be the final title of the finished film: <i>Leonardo re-teams with Martin Scorsese to film Ashecliffe 2008-03-18 Leonardo has re-teamed with Director Martin Scorsese to make the film Ashecliffe (a working title), a film based on the novel Shutter Island written by Dennis Lehane. They are currently filming in Boston with costars Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Jackie Earle Haley, Emily Mortimer, Max von Sydow and Patricia Clarkson. Set in 1954, Leonardo stars as U.S. Marshall Teddy Daniels who is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who has escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is hiding somewhere on the remote Shutter Island. The film is tentatively scheduled for release in October of 2009.</i> http://www.Leonardodicaprio.com

Thanks, Courtney :) That's a relief...

I first saw this on IMDb. Check out the rumor mill under March 2008 at http://www.in70mm.com/ Martin Scorsese is using 65mm cameras on his new film "Shutter Island".

Thank you, arnzilla. Are they using it because of all the special effects that will be added on later? What else can it mean?

arnzilla- 04-04-2008

Yeah, that's what a poster figured as well on the cinematography.com forum. http://www.cinematography.com/forum2004/index.php?showtopic=29996

Arnzilla For those like me who are clueless what effect will shooting with 65mm have? What's the more usual format?

nandarighi- 04-07-2008

do you guys know the sequence that the scenes are gonna be filmed? are they gonna make all the hospital's scenes first and later film the flashbacks or are they gonna intercalete?

arnzilla- 04-09-2008

For those like me who are clueless what effect will shooting with 65mm have? What's the more usual format?35mm is more usual, so I guess having a frame nearly twice as big means you can put more detail into it. do you guys know the sequence that the scenes are gonna be filmed? are they gonna make all the hospital's scenes first and later film the flashbacks or are they gonna intercalete?I thought you made up that last word, but it's real. The WW2 flashbacks were already filmed and it looks like they're filming the hospital scenes now.
