Las Vegas critics honor 'Departed' Mirren, Whitaker take home top acting honors By BARBARA SCHERZER Warner Bros.' "The Departed" outgunned the competition with three nods from the Las Vegas Film Critics Society, including best picture and director, Martin Scorsese. Helen Mirren landed the org's Sierra Award for actress for "The Queen" and Forest Whitaker landed the actor nod for "The Last King of Scotland." Additional kudos go to Djimon Hounsou for his supporting actor turn in "Blood Diamond" as well as to Jennifer Hudson as supporting actress in "Dreamgirls." Peter O'Toole, soon to be seen in "Venus," was recognized for his body of work and received the group's William Holden Lifetime Achievement Award. "An Inconvenient Truth" was voted top doc while "Monster House" scared up the nod for animated film . The Las Vegas Film Critics Society, now in its 10th year, is comprised of 12 members from print, radio, TV and online outlets.
