Goodfella Tragic but so true...see you in 2016 ! Margot I try to remind myself that the SAGS gave Ensemble award to "Birdcage and Full Monty' over films like "L.A. Confidential"... And..yes...agree was cute film....good tv movie of the week....which could be why it won as tv actors vote as well...not just movie actors... Stormy Really makes one wonder what the Best Ensemble is suppose to represent when you've read critic after critic say that "TD" was a cast in which every actor was firing on all cylinders ! No other Best Actress contender was there but Mirren Noticed none of the others came...

 Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

No other Best Actress contender was there but Mirren Noticed none of the others came...  If nominated, I wouldn't have attended either. Mirren is such a favourite there wasn't any doubt who'd win.... but then there are unfathomable upsets occasionally (The Departed not getting best ensemble) & it would have been very awkward if Mirren had lost...

Like everyone else, I have no comment about LMS winning without it being on par with something Dignam might say... I'm torn about Forest and Helen winning constantly. On one hand, they are both such awesome actors, they truly deserve all this. On the other hand, it's getting so predictable, it's becoming so unfun to watch these award shows. Anyway, here's hoping the Oscars have more sense then to award LMS for best pic! :?

I'm torn too but as I posted on IMDb (I think? It's all a blur as to where I posted what at the moment) Leo has gone to some dark places in his roles and I don't need to name them for you, but Forest went to the very dark and scary place of Idi Armin and I think the Academy - daft as they are! - will recognise the personal toll that would have taken on the actor. And he was bloody wonderful - a black Hitler - full of charisma - and menace. Of course the Academy didn't recognise where Leo went for HH and that Ray was simply an impersonation - but pfffft! And yes ArtReborn - please no more of LMS. Enough already!

Well as I've yet to see an awards ceremony I don't feel too fatigued on that score. I agree Margot these disappointments are slight compared to both Leo and Marty being passed over at the Oscars for The Aviator. Of course to make myself feel better I'd say that those nominated are already in a very select group so recieving an award is just the icing on the cake.

absotively boss - they are in the club and acknowledged - so why do I want more. (because I'm a Leotard etc and want that statue!!!)

Was just across the street from work at the laundromat (waiting for prewash to end, lol) and on the tv comes a very sharp looking ad...it started with a collage of headlines from the newspaper reviews and then went into clips interspersed with announcements of the Oscars...I think there was a voiceover at the beginning "From the master of crime drama, Martin Scorsese..."; "Shipping" was playing over all as well. I'm not sure if it covered the BFCA win, though. They twice played a Departed advert during the SAGs. I found it odd they didn't say that it was in theaters and only mentioned its DVD release date. Anyway, they used the female chorus of Gimme Shelter. "It's just a shot away!"

we certainly got different advertisments during the SAG awards!

Scream- 01-31-2007

Will these shit-for-brains sons-of-bitches have the balls to fuck it up? I hope not. So far guild members have not shown overwhelming support for the film (like, how the hell did leo lose to Eddie Murphy?!!), but let's hope they get this right...

leela- 02-01-2007

absotively boss - they are in the club and acknowledged - so why do I want more. (because I'm a Leotard etc and want that statue!!!) Now there's something we can all agree on. :D missing scumbag"> Will these shit-for-brains sons-of-bitches have the balls to fuck it up? You haven't been away "Frenchifying" the opposition have you?

arnzilla- 02-01-2007

So I assume Spielberg will be presenting best film director at the DGAs. That would be the third time this year (after the BFCA and the Globes) that he was the guy. I'd like to see De Niro present best director at the Oscars. It would be dramatic no matter who wins.

Peanut80- 02-02-2007

Arnz I ..too...would love to see DeNiro present "Best Director" award to Scorsese..... My only concern would be IF Scorsese didn't win and Eastwood did ...could DeNiro contain himself from smashing Eastwood over the head with it !
