Arnzilla Thanks for more award news ....what great taste they have ! :) Leela Yes...they will be suprises ...good ones I think ! :) Margot Saw Forest in "Last King " ...thought he was excellent.. but personally for me ...equally excellent were DiCaprio and O'Toole. Same with Helen....thought she was excellent in "Queen" but thought Judi Dench was equally excellent in "Notes"

Hollywood Reporter Go Thelma !!! :) :) Babel" and "The Departed" were both named best edited feature film, drama, at the 57th Annual ACE Eddie Awards, held Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. It was only the second tie in the history of the awards, presented by the American Cinema Editors. The previous tie occurred in 1989 when "Rain Man" tied with "Mississippi Burning." "Babel" was edited by Stephen Mirrione and Douglas Crise, while "The Departed" was edited by Thelma Schoonmaker. The best edited feature film, comedy or musical, winner was Virginia Katz for "Dreamgirls." "An Inconvenient Truth," edited by Jay Cassidy and Dan Sweitlik, took best edited documentary honors.

arnzilla- 02-19-2007

Whoa! A tie in such a close race... it's like a bad joke. TD is the Rain Man equivalent in that it's the blockbuster while Babel is Mississippi Burning in that it's the social commentary film. We all know which one eventually took Best Pic.

will- 02-19-2007

Well, this clears things up... Anyway, congratulations to Thelma!!! A very deserved win... :D Arnzilla, I like the 20 at the top...

Peanut80- 02-19-2007

Arnz said We all know which one eventually took Best Pic. Sure hope it is "raining Oscars" on "TD" next Sunday !!! Best Adapted Screenplay , Best Editing, Best Directing, and Best Picture May even throw in Best Supporting Actor as the cherry on the cake :)

arnzilla- 02-19-2007

I saw this posted at OW: PAY ATTENTION TO THIS STATISTIC: Only 6 films in FILM HISTORY have won the DGA, WGA, and ACE awards together. 1965: The Sound of Music 1970: Patton 1990: Dances with Wolves 1993: Schindler's List 1994: Forrest Gump 2006: The Departed This is a really damn good thing if you ask me. All won Best Picture and Best Director. If anybody keeps telling you The Departed won't win Best Picture, you throw this at them as one of the reasons why it will.

margot122- 02-19-2007

Jesus I hope so !

Peanut80- 02-19-2007

Courtney- 02-19-2007

Congratulations to Thelma. Having rewatched TD recently on DVD a couple of times now, I think the editing in that movie was certainly award-worthy. Also, I think Ray Winstone deserved a supporting nom. as much as anyone; I really like him. and added so much to that movie.

Shynney- 02-19-2007

Agree Courtney. Ray Winstone is exceptional and so believable in his character but then there were a lot of exceptional performances in TD.
