Yes! BIG THANKS, Will! This draft definitely keeps the setting of the prologue during the same time period as the riots: 1974, then skips to 1977 before settling into the 80s. John Lennon even appears as himself. The names in this version are Colin Quire and Billy Connolly. The draft also answers some of the questions we've had, like is Delahunt a cop? It suggests that Costello's fatherly feelings for Billy might have led the latter toward a new career direction and also delves into Costello's relationship with both of Billy's parents. IA's "Caesar" line is there, too. Barrigan reveals that he was one of the other kids at Costello's L-street garage. There's hardly anything about the FBI in the plot and Costello simply "asks" Colin to get it over with quickly and take him out. The reasons are left unstated. And yes, there's a bit of morse code involved in the plot. Billy and Madolyn's (actually Madeleine in this draft) relationship is more tawdry in this version. From script to screen script... Queenan: (to Colin) You rise fast. Dignam: So do turds in a swimming pool. screen... Queenan: (to Colin) You rise fast. Dignam: Like a 12 year-old's dick.

Try a right-click "Save Target As..." Another thing that didn't make it to the final product is that in this draft Billy is ultimately aware that Colin is with Madolyn because of a photograph of him on her shelf. She also opens up about Colin to Billy and even calls him her husband at one point. Billy also admits to her early on that he's a undercover cop.

Finally getting a chance to read some of the screenplay Noticed the edited out scene with Costello/Billy Sr/ Lil Bill Noticed that the funeral was for Billy Sr not Billy's Mom Wish they had left in the comments that Billy makes to Brown in response to drill instructors comments about them being the 'state' police and not 'regular' police Tho thought it wise they changed the dialogue and Dignam didn't ask Billy..with his ability to do accents/be two different people .."Why didn't he become an actor ?" I should have known "Evil Thelma" edited out my cameo appearance Queenan says "This isn't police work for peanuts Also noticed that Billy's being told about the job and taking the job are TWO different events.....that he decides to take the job after his mother dies... And gosh how dare Evil Thelma edit out this scene ! :roll: Billy naked holding his clothes waiting to be processed out of jail s And....wait it gets worse....now Evil Thelma has edited out Cosstello saying ....Frankie if I had only known I would have had you over for 'red beans and rice' ! I took a drive down for a month, down to New Orleans, which is a hell of a city Seems to me if you go by what Delahunt says in beginning of scene ..that was edited out....that he was telling Billy he knew he was the rat but also knew he couldn't kill him.... Also very interesting what were Costello's original comments to Billy in their final scene together... Also how the ' revealing of Colin's involvement ' might have gone.... Love what was suppose to be Billy's final comment to Brown.... Interesting to see how dialogue was moved around to different scenes..... Bottom line While certainly interesting to see the original screenplay.....am very pleased by what became the final product !!!! :) :)

Billy's extended conversation with his cousin in the car as to Costello's likes and dislikes in his people seems to shed some light on at least one(?) of the reasons Billy chooses not to drink alcohol in the bar.

Nota As to Mr French...since my father still has cousins living outside of Paris...as you can imagine ...between his love of Coke and his name ...I would find Mr "French" good company..... But....have no fear....I would still be glad to share a drink at the bar with my Italian buddies like you.....infact...we have a very large Italian population in New Orleans....must be why Uncle Carlos and the rest of the Marcellos felt right at home here :) Arnz Too funny :) Also, Monahan suggests that Ellerby might have been under the influence of regular coke during his "sweating" scene
