I think the lyrics of "Damn those eyes" by Kane could have some relation to the movie. Not so sure that the music fits the time period or the movie though.
Lyrics :
Damn those eyes,
They keep me torn inside.
She runs like a river through me,
Always you.
Eyes don`t lie, words may try.
She comes like a mystery, flows through me,
And I swear it`s true,
Always you....
I wish I`d run into you now (2x)
If I see you one more time, maybe I`d feel better,
If I`d see you one more time,
Maybe I`d feel not so cold.
Damn those eyes,
No matter how I try,
She reignes with her symphony, over me.
Words may try, but eyes don`t lie,
She speaks with her tender voice, `till there`s no choice,
And I swear it`s true, always you...
I wish I`d run into you now (2x)
If I see you one more time, maybe I`d feel better,
If I`d see you one more time,
Maybe I`d feel not so cold.
Other than Bing Crosby's "East Side of Heaven," what could we talk about?
I'm not too familiar with that one but I do like the Puccini
Joke
Yes those lyrics do fit and but you're right we do need to keep the 1950's time frame in mind
Other than Bing Crosby's "East Side of Heaven," what could we talk about?
I'm not too familiar with that one but I do like the Puccini
Hottie soprano Anna Netrebko nearly moved Scorsese to tears with it ("O Mio Babbino Caro") during the Kennedy Center Honors.
I've been looking for an mp3 of "East Side of Heaven" because it's the only song mentioned in the novel.
Here it is.
Maybe the only songs we'll hear will be in flashbacks.
Will
Thanks for clip of "East Side of Heaven"....notice they mention Manhattan/New York a lot in it........
:)
We need a song that mentions Boston

Aww............it does have that effect at times.
Will
Thanks for the song. The music sounds sweet and comforting even if the lyrics don't quite fit the location.
CHEERS Will... You're always there to make us ("us"? ME certainly Yes) discover new old songs. I must say that except" White Christmas" and my dear Hepburn-Hughes "Thanks" day on the beach... I'm very ignorant about Bing Crosby's hits !
I guess the story and the global picture of SI does not allow or permit a lot of "songs" ... just melodies, and solos of instruments maybe...and I can also imagine many moments of silence too. The stormy wind can also play a great part in the dialogues, in different scenes. The mad wind is an element that plays a great part in the story. There's an Hitchcock film where the winds plays a great part... let me see if I can remember...
Hey, GUYS, I almost forgot...
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE HERE, ON THE MAD ISLAND !
Happy New Year to you too, Lou, and to everyone. :D
Just for a knock in the knees, I mixed it with track 5 of TWBB.
Wonderful score. Does it work with the film? Have you seen it?
About songs in the film, perhaps Cawley might have a record player in his house, or even a radio could be playing in his office when they first meet. I don't think the radio is out at that time.

With buzz turning to bust (for me at least) on talked-up but overrated films like American Gangster, NCFOM, and Atonement, I hope TWBB blows me away. BTW, I think the first half of Atonement could make a great comedy with an alternate dialogue track. It could be titled "The Little Girl Who Ran Around a Very Big House and Viewed Very Shocking Things" or simply "See You Next Tuesday!":P IMO, only Juno lives up to its hype.
Lou
Like you ..I don't see there 'being' songs per se in the film except for the Grove dancing scene.......I think of it mainly as instrumentals.
Arnz
Glad to hear you liked "Juno" off to see it today....
But what is "TWBB" :?:
Just for a knock in the knees, I mixed it with track 5 of TWBB.
Now that sounds like fingernails on a blackboard or a knife twist of the knife?

Yes that would work and they could use some period music in the flashbacks.
