What's Next?
IMDB has listed the upcoming DeNiro project The Winter of Frankie Machine as having procured a director, none other than Martin Scorsese. Now don't get me wrong, im dying to see these two make a film, but aftre gangs of new york, scorsese maintained that that was his last look at that way of life. he made a concession with the departed, but would seemingly again return to the gangster genre with the upcoming de niro project. i was much looking forward to silence being scorsese's next film, but then again, i don't now how definate scorsese signing on to the deniro project is. My personal preference would be to see scorsese do silence next (with javier bardem and gael garcia bernal and possibly De Niro in a supporting role), followed by that rumored project 'roscoe' arnzilla alerted to earlier (having read a little of the book), and then get together with an even more developed di caprio and tackle the roosevelt project. any thoughts?

"Martin Scorsese (in negotiations)" This is what happens when a bunch of IMDb posters want someone REALLY badly to be part of a particular film. They bombard the IMDb administration with updates until they capitulate. However... 05/11/2006 6:48 PM (1 comment) I'm searching around for news about who will write the script for The Winter of Frankie Machine, an aging-mafia-hitman flick to be directed by Martin Scorsese and star Robert De Niro, to be produced by De Niro and Jane Rosenthal. Whether this film actually happens or not, the source material is a book by Don Winslow. (Haven't read it, but of course the name "Frankie Machine" was Frank Sinatra 's in Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm.) If anyone knows anything... Does Jeffrey Wells know something or did he just lurk IMDb?

LeoneVsScorsese, thank you for the new info. I, too, wish he went on to do Silence next. I thought the financing for that film was settled, and was expecting to see it gearing up early next year, after King finishes with Shantaram. ImdbPro is not of further help regarding either of the two films... :? This is what happens when a bunch of IMDb posters want someone REALLY badly to be part of a particular film. They bombard the IMDb administration with updates until they capitulate. ............. Hmm, should we regard this as a confession? About Wells, I'm guessing he doesn't know anything more than the rest of us about this...

Hmm, should we regard this as a confession? My Scorsese update was for Silence... and it was ignored. The Silence page is just that: silent.

Well, I had thought so. :D I'll give it a shot also... see what happens. An what about this "Roscoe" project? Don't know that much about it. Is it known by another title, perhaps?

arnzilla- 05-12-2006

I don't think so. Perhaps it's what Julian Fellowes is working on (or he could be involved with Boswell's London Journal).

Silence...is golden?
The Silence page is just that: silent. Well, they've got a possible release date there... 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Geez...And I thought we had a loooooooooong wait for TD!!! Thanks, guys for the news. And Roscoe? First I've heard about that one.

Lou- 05-13-2006

I don't look at IMDB very often... and nerver read their boards... so I won't comment. Just see it as a good database, when I'm searching a name or translation of a title... and I happen to leave an opinion about a film sometimes, that's all... I don't know well who "lurk" up there... "Silence" was the project, I was about to admit he will do next... and it's questioned apparently... Okay... My ""old""next dream-project for Scorsese was what I imagined, months ago, after we got the rumor of a remake of "Drunken Angel"... I'm stuck on that story and sorry that we don't hear about it anymore...

leela- 05-13-2006

If I had a choice.... it would be Silence. And because it's the one he mentions in interviews I'm hopeful he'll do it next. But mainly I'm happy to hear his name mentioned in connection with any project because I want to know he'll be making new films for many years to come. :D

Thanks for the Scorsese project news, LeoneVsScorsese They all sound good to me and I know I’ll be there for whichever one Scorsese chooses.

LeoneVsScorsese- 05-20-2006

arnzilla- 05-21-2006

leela- 05-21-2006

Let's have a moment of silence for poor Frankie. and a prayer for The Departed

Maybe I shouldn't be happy about this but... Oh, and I meant to ask... since we're talking about Imdb and its users... I read over there that Scorsese is at Cannes. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else.

leela- 05-21-2006

Will LOL me too but I didn't like to say anything :D I've been trying to keep up with Cannes news and hadn't heard anything but then TV/media coverage here isn't huge. Maybe Lou will be able to tell us something I know she likes to follow the festival news.
