Over at imdb, a person involved with the production said this in regards to which part goes to which actor:
| Quote: | Mr Day-Lewis has signed to play padre Cristóvão Ferreira
As-of-this-writing
- Mr Del Toro still is negotiating to play padre Francisco Garrpe
- Mr Bernal is in talks (not yet negotiating) to play padre Sebastião Rodrigues
- The role of Kichijiro remains open |

Thanks, will. I need to check that board more often. It appears that "Antonia" and "southern-fried Davey" both worked on Milk and have a history together (he often refers to her as The Aunt).
The former just posted that Florian Ballhaus might be in the running as DP and the latter wrote that "Antonia and some of the rest of us minions just signed on to do Silence with Scorsese." |

Yes, I think they're for real.
Florian? Ballhaus...? Maybe he can work with his father on this one. |

| Thanks for the tip, Will. We'll keep an eye on there. |

Again, from imdb... Filming is to take place "August through October in Taranaki".
I guess Shutter Island might move from Oct. 2 after all. |

"Antonia" just recently edited that last comment to this:
| Quote: | | Pre-production starts at the end of April; shooting August through October in Taranaki |
BTW, take a look at the link in the first post on this thread. All the IMDb messages have "been deleted by an administrator." |

| That's weird. I can see the thread with imdb pro, though. |

"Antonia" speaketh again:
| Quote: | | In Jay Cocks' screenplay, the role of padre "Cristóvão Ferreira" is as much a supporting role as "Bill 'The Butcher' Cutting" was in The Gangs of New York." |

An update from Antonia_I:
| Quote: | ....
it has been delayed
We did not begin prep as originally planned in April
Mr Scorsese still is mixing and fine-tune editing Shutter Island and juggling several tangential projects (which people who never require sleep or bad TV actually can manage) |

The latest from Antonia as of July 3rd... | Quote: | | Estimated start -- pre-production in Autumn for a Winter shoot (remember Southern Hemisphere = inverse climate) |

Well...
| Quote: | As-of-this-writing no one is doing this film; in order to have prepared for the proposed February shoot, we'd have had to have been on location for Pre-production this week
For now, this title is back on the shelf |

As-of-this-writing ...
I'll hold to that. SI's reschedule has no doubt affected plans in Scorsese's agenda. Thanks, Will. |
